Calvin Trillin, a journalist for The New Yorker talked about the relation of Jews and Krewes throughout various articles from the 1960s to the 1990s. Trillin asserted that although Jews have been implemented in almost all aspects of social and economic life throughout New Orleans, they are still unable to join some of the most elite Krewes and social clubs. Therefore, according to Trillin, some Jewish families still presently leave the city during the holiday so to avoid the awkward and degrading fact that they cannot attend some of the most elite parties, balls, and social gatherings. |
